Style Tips

Summer is the perfect time for travel, whether you’re heading to a tropical destination, exploring a new city, or enjoying a relaxing getaway. Dressing for summer trips involves finding the right balance between style, comfort, and practicality- because babe- it’s hot- and so are you. Below I am sharing my personal summer travel outfits that make getting dressed and enjoying yourself that much easier.

One-Piece Wonders

A one-piece outfit like a romper or jumpsuit is a travel essential. They’re easy to pack, comfortable to wear, and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

  • Rompers: Perfect for a day of sightseeing or a casual dinner, rompers are versatile and stylish. I also love the sporty dresses (think tennis dresses) for running around in the heat because they have built-in shorts.

  • Jumpsuits: Great for evening outings or a more polished look, jumpsuits offer a chic alternative to dresses and your thighs won’t be chafing all night long- ya know what I mean?

Summer Going-Out Look

Every travel wardrobe needs at least one standout outfit for those special nights out. But I do standy by the notion that you don’t need 5 or 10- find one that you feel absolutely stellar in. Catch me in my pink satin dress in the pic below if you need to see the vibes.

  • Maxi Dress: A flowy maxi dress is perfect for a night out, offering elegance and comfort. Look for bold prints or solid colors to make a statement.

  • Statement Accessories: Pair your outfit with statement earrings or a chunky necklace to elevate your look.

Shorts You Actually Feel Good In

Finding a pair of shorts that you feel confident in is key for summer travel. Look for styles that offer comfort and a flattering fit. I like to bring one denim and one linen at least so I can choose my look for the day.

  • High-Waisted Shorts: These can be paired with a variety of tops and provide a fun silhouette.
  • Denim Cutoffs: A classic summer staple, perfect for casual days and easy to dress up with the right top. Or you can be like me and pair them with your Workout T-shirt for a run-around kinda vibe.

The ‘Double-Duty’ Tops

Pack a few tops that can be worn in multiple ways for different occasions. I like to focus on unique necklines, like the halter one I have on. But it’s summer so you can wear off-the-shoulder, tube tops, shirts with flutter sleeves….really don’t be afraid to play with shape so that no matter what you add your top to- it can go out or hang out.

When In Doubt, Find Linen Sets

Linen is a must for summer travel due to its breathability and comfort.

  • Linen Pants: Perfect for hot climates, they keep you cool while looking stylish. Again- no thigh rubbing here.

  • Linen sets: Matching sets are effortlessly chic and can be mixed and matched with other pieces in your wardrobe. I wore my white linen set to the pool and ocean over my swimsuits. This way I could jump into a restaurant without having to go back to the hotel.

LOTS of Bikinis and Swimwear

When heading to beach destinations, pack a variety of swimwear to suit different activities and moods. Seriously- go wild. If that means a green bikini with underboob– do it. How often can you wear a denim bikini like I did? Or embrace the cute ruffles in this periwinkle bikini. My fav was honestly what I am calling my ‘Bi Sporty Spice Bikini’- which you can also snag.

PS: You don’t need to be anything other than you to wear the swimsuit. Get in the water. Have a freaking great time in your hot swimsuit. Period.

Summer Travel Outfits | General Shopping Tips

  1. Lightweight Fabrics: Opt for breathable materials like cotton, linen, and rayon to stay cool.
  2. Layering: Even in summer, some destinations can get cool in the evenings. Pack a light jacket or cardigan.
  3. Comfortable Footwear: Choose sandals or sneakers that provide support for long days of walking. I LIVED in my Sorel Sandals -and they were so comfy!
  4. Accessories: Don’t forget a stylish hat and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun.
  5. Stay Hydrated: Always carry a water bottle to keep hydrated in the heat. I love a packable one so it also pairs well with airport travel.
