Annnnddd we’re back with another gorgeous shoot in my series, Fashion and Food in Philly! Instead of featuring a traditional Philly boutique, I decided to go a little bit of a different direction for this shoot. It must have been all of the discussion about “Tidying Up” and Marie Kondo, that had me thinking about all of the great finds making their way to secondhand stores. So, all of the clothing for this shoot was found at secondhand/consignment stores, Philly AIDS Thrift and Shop Greene Street Philly.
This shoot’s location was the beautifully dog themed, eclectic, White Dog Cafe in University City. White Dog is definitely one of those restaurants that you have to go to multiple times to take in all of the fun rooms, and of course eat all of the good food. Also, it’s dog themed, so you know I automatically loved it. Even if you’re not animal obsessed, like myself, you will fall in love with the decor, especially in the solarium. It’s just stunning. I mean, you’ll see.
Our whole theme for the shoot was effortless chic with little hints of menswear and western elements. Our hair and makeup artist, Sarah, created the perfect fresh faced makeup look on our model, Majlinda. The makeup was complemented by casual “cool girl” hair styles.
Our first look features a men’s white button down, acid washed skinny jeans, and a men’s robe worn as a coat. Fun fact: the robe is Dior, and I found it for $12 at Philly AIDS Thrift. The jeans are from Greene Street Philly.
Our second look shows how easy it is to continue to wear a white summer dress into fall or winter. Remember, it’s ok to wear white whenever you want. All you have to do is add a sweater and booties. Also, opt for tonal additions, like the light tan sweater and the camel booties. The sweater, dress, and yellow bangle are all from Philly AIDS Thrift. The booties belong to the model, but here are a few similar options: here’s one and here’s another.
As per usual, our last look was my favorite. I mean, what’s not to love? The black and white faux suede and shearling vest with a basic white long-sleeved t, and those pants, I just loved it all. The vest and jewelry were from Philly AIDS Thrift, while the pants and long sleeved t were from Greene Street.
All of the amazing photos were captured and edited by my girl, Jessica Lynn Photography.
