How to Bring the Glam to Philly’s Hottest Pizza Place

Metallics, sequins, beading, and jewel tones all helped us bring the glam to Philly’s hottest pizza place, Porta. Just like our shoot at Louie Louie, my approach for this shoot was to highlight the theme and decor of the restaurant through my clothing selections. The decor in Porta has a fun element of contrast. Its original architecture was preserved. The walls are accessorized with beautiful, decorative molding. But don’t get me wrong, Porta is anything but stuffy. In addition to the old world details, you will find graffiti throughout the restaurant as well. All of that being said, Porta is classy, it’s badass, and that’s exactly how I wanted to style this shoot.

Just like the shoot at Louie Louie, I featured clothes and accessories for Philly (or near Philly) boutiques! The clothing was pulled from DFTI and Six. Accessories were a combination from Six, and also from my own personal collection. My girl, Jessica Terkowski of Jessica Lynn Photography was our photographer for this shoot (she also photographed the Louie Louie shoot. All of these magical images are hers.

So, how does one wear show stopping, sparkly, glam, dresses and jumpsuits to a cool restaurant? Let me show you.

For Brooke’s first look, we let the sequin mini dress be the main focus of her outfit. Her jewelry and accessories were minimal but complemented the dress. That pink metallic clutch worked so well with her makeup. Just like her accessories, her makeup complemented (rather than competed) with the dress. This look allows you to wear a really fun, memorable dress, without feeling like you’re overdressed.Both Brooke and Kristen are wearing booties with their dresses. A pair of heels would have worked just fine with both dresses, but because we wanted a touch of edgy with our glam, I opted for booties.

As soon as Kristen put on this dress, we were all getting major JLo vibes. It was amazing. (So, if Kristen is like JLo, that means that I am like Rob Zangardi, and thus my life is complete.) Check out this pic below for more details on that dress. 

Maybe when you’re going out, you’re not feeling like putting on a dress. A jumpsuit like the one Kimberly has on is the perfect way to look elevated, while still remaining super comfortable.

One of the many benefits to wearing a jumpsuit: you can pose like Kimberly, and look SO FIERCE!

Also, that bar is their upstairs bar, not to be confused with one of their downstairs bars.

I’m not sure which I love more – the train on Kristen’s dress or the beading on Brooke’s. So Gorg.

If your crowd is a little more casual, but you still want to bring a touch of sparkle to your outing, this metallic t-shirt is your best option.

Pro Tip: Buy your t-shirt a size larger than what you would normally wear, so that you can have the option to knot the bottom. This is an easy way to create a “crop top” effect without showing more skin than you’re comfortable showing. 

I get asked a lot about challenges I encounter during shoots. I have to admit, this one had a pretty big challenge for quite a few of us to overcome and power through. The biggest challenge for this shoot was to work the entire time, and not stop and just stuff our faces with pizza. Seriously though. Let’s go back real soon.
